Build  between 1980 and 1985. Service times ends between mid 2025 and  mid 2026

Eaos are open bogie wagons with a large loading space, high load limits, a continuous top chord, two double doors on each side and steel flooring.

They are suitable for transporting a wide variety of goods both in bulk (scrap, coal, ores, non-metallic minerals) and in packaged form (logs or semi-finished steel products (rod iron/slabs)). Rings attached to the outside of the wagon enable nets/sheets or tarpaulin covers to be fastened to prevent the freight from getting wet or to prevent wind losses from bulk goods. To secure lightweight loose scrap, hooks are fitted below the top chords to allow wire netting covers to be fastened. In order to withstand the heavy-duty stresses experienced in scrap metal transport, this Ea wagon has been specially equipped with reinforced walls and floors and fitted out with guards to protect the wagon’s controls.

The freight wagon is preferred for transporting loads that are not sensitive to weather, such as raw coal, briquettes, coke, sand, gravel, ore, ballast and similar bulk goods, as well as scrap, part loads and short stem wood. The underframe is a welded structure made of sheet metal, rolled steel sections and wide flat steel. The wagon body is designed as a weldment with a continuous cantrail. The upper side straps are connected to each other by two end crossbars. The side walls are reinforced by means of intermediate, corner and door posts. Compared to the basic type, the drop ends have been fixed or replaced by end walls. The wooden floor has been replaced by a sheet metal floor and the side wall doors have been reinforced. On some vehicles the doors (positioned diagonally to one another) have been replaced and sealed with metal sheets. The wagon is a rotary tippler. Some of the wagons are equipped with a parking brake that can be operated from the ground on both sides of the wagon.
