The two-part multiple units of the 628.4 class each consist of a power car and a control car. These are a more strongly motorised variant of the predecessor 628.0 to 628.2 class, which were developed in the mid-1970s but only went into class production in 1986. The VT 628 can be found almost everywhere in Germany, mostly as regional trains (RegionalBahn, RB).
